Soroptimist International of Derby
Soroptimist International of Derby is the local branch of an international movement for lively professional and business women, who join clubs to give service to others. This operates on a number of levels - at club level to provide support and friendship for members; at local level to serve the community where the club is based; at national level in addressing larger social issues and at international level to strive for human rights for all and to foster understanding and goodwill.

About Soroptimist International
The name 'Soroptimist' derives from the Latin soror meaning 'sister' and optima
meaning 'best', and so is best translated as 'Best of sisters'.
The first club opened in the United States in 1921, followed by clubs in Great Britain and Europe. The organisation currently has over 3,000 clubs arranged in 4 geographical federations and is expanding, particularly in the developing world.
